UFC 187: Chris Weidman vs Vitor Belfort

At UFC 187 Chris Weidman (13-0) defeated Vitor Belfort (24-11, 1 no-contest) in spectacular fasion via first round TKO/Ref Stoppage.

As expected, Vitor showed no fear and came out swinging with the boxing style and aggressiveness he is known for. Weidman looked to be in trouble as he was unable to counter and only defended the strikes. After the fight, Chris said he was simply letting Vitor tire himself out and that he was in no danger during the one sided exchange.

Chris appeared to be hurt by one of the blows as he backed away, though it may have been a combination of being hit while also slipping on the canvas.

Next, Weidman showed why he is the champion, quickly taking Vitor down with a perfectly timed double leg (a blast double). He wasted no time in passing Vitors half-guard, attaining mount position and throwing punch after punch. Chris is a Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu and D1 All American Wrestler, he did a great job displaying his world class grappling skill. Vitor showed no signs of intelligent defense (he even tried to punch Chris from under mount). The referee stopped the match at 2:53 of round one due to strikes.
